Chart D&S Completes Largest LNG Terminal of Its Kind in Norway
Cleveland, Ohio September 5th, 2011 - Chart Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: GTLS), a leading independent global manufacturer of highly engineered equipment used in the production, storage and end-use of hydrocarbon and industrial gases, today announced that Chart Distribution & Storage ("Chart D&S") and Skangass AS of Stavanger, Norway have signed the Delivery Protocol for a completed LNG terminal near Fredrikstad, Norway, which is the largest known of its type. Skangass will use the terminal as a re-distribution point for LNG delivered by ship from its 900 TPD liquefaction plant near Stavanger. The terminal features total liquid capacity of 6,414 m3 stored in vacuum-insulated tanks. It will serve as a supply point for trailer deliveries to Skangass customers in Sweden and Norway as well as to pipeline customers in the Fredrikstad region from its 5,000 Nm3/h evaporation plant at the terminal.
Chart D&S supplied nine vacuum insulated tanks at the terminal, of which two are the world.s largest with storage capacity of 1,000 m3 each. The other tanks supplied have capacities of 500 and 700 m3. All tanks were manufactured by Chart Ferox, a.s. in Decin, Czech Republic. This was a turn-key project with Chart D&S providing all major equipment, interconnecting piping, 800 meters of filling lines from jetty to terminal, and the control system. The installation was done by InterGas AS, Chart.s installation partner in Scandinavia.
We are very pleased to have been involved in implementing this key project while also being a significant supplier, completing it on time and meeting Skangass. expectations., stated Hans Lonsain, Chairman & CEO of Chart Ferox.

Chart Ferox is at it again!
It was not long ago that Chart Ferox announced the then largest vacuum insulated storage tank anywhere: the awesome HT683/8. With its gross capacity of nearly 700.000 liters, it sported a diameter of 5,6 meters, a length of nearly 37 meters and weighed in at more than 160 tons. Since then, 17 of these giant tanks have been delivered to customers in Norway and Finland. They serve in LNG applications such as production plant storage, ship refueling and satellites for gaseous supply
Recently, Chart Ferox was ready to upstage itself, this time with an even larger tank. At this writing, two units of the brand-new HT1000 are nearing completion. They will become part of a new LNG storage depot being built for Skangass for Nordic LNG near Fredrikstad, Norway. These tanks boast a diameter of nearly 6 meters, length of 48 meters, 8 bar g working pressure and weight of 212 tons. To our knowledge, these giants are the largest shop built vacuum insulated tanks in the world!

New design of perlite vacuum insulated tanks from Chart Ferox, a.s.
New ranges of standard storage tanks have been developed in Chart Ferox as a result of continuous improvements.
In the development of the new VT and VTC series, Chart Ferox took advantage of their long term experience in the manufacture of cryogenic
vessels and close collaboration with leading industrial gas companies resulting in safe, easy and economical operational tanks
The new VT and VTC series tanks are vertical, stationary, pressure vessels with vacuum perlite insulation for long-term storage of
cryogenic liquefied gases under pressure.
The new VT series tanks are available in capacities of 3,000 to 60,000 liters and pressures of 18, 22 and 37 bar in accordance with and
conforming to EC directive 97/23/EC (PED- Pressure equipment directive). Tank design is in accordance with EN 13458-2.
The new VTC series tanks are available in capacities of 4,000 to 67,000 liters and a pressure of 22 bar in accordance with and conforming to
EC directive 97/23/EC (PED- Pressure equipment directive). Tank design is in accordance with EN 13458-2.
Materials used in the new range remains unchanged although some dimensions have been modified with respect to material availability, thereby
shortening lead times.
To improve manipulation and handling all tanks are equipped with 4 stainless steel transport brackets. Furthermore design of the legs
has been modified to ensure high corrosion resistance.
Flatter outer heads allow further improvement of easy access and operation of external plumbing by applying customized piping modules.
These products are guaranteed for 5 years in terms of vacuum integrity and either a 3 year durable environmentally friendly surface coating
for industrial standards or optionally 5 years for the application of a thicker coat of paint.
Manufacture of the VT 11/18 prototype will be completed in October 2009. During January and February 2010, Chart Ferox will be switching
production to the new design and by March only the new design of tanks will be manufactured.
More detailed technical information about the new VT tanks can be found in the VT series leaflet available in English language. The leaflet for
VTC tanks is almost complete and will be available in short while on our web site. As with all highly engineered and high performance products, customers
should carefully read and adhere to operational and safety instructions and information accompanying the Chart Ferox new VT and VTC tanks in order to ensure
safety and best performance.
